The Bloomberg Philanthropies Initiative for Global Road Safety

The Johns Hopkins International Injury Research Unit (JH-IIRU), through the Bloomberg Philanthropies Initiative for Global Road Safety (BIGRS), works to support evidence-based road safety interventions aimed at reducing traffic-related injuries and fatalities worldwide. As part of this global initiative, JH-IIRU conducts road safety observations, data analysis, and research activities that help inform policies and interventions focused on safer road user behaviors, stronger data systems, improved infrastructure, and enhanced road safety strategies.

This dashboard is an interactive platform for visualizing and exploring ongoing road safety observational data for key risk factors-speed, helmet use, seat-belt and child restraint use and drink driving—collected across participating cities. It supports data-driven decision-making, tracks progress over time and helps translate findings into practical actions. Through collaboration with local and international partners, JH-IIRU contributes to advancing evidence-based approaches to saving lives on the road.
